Gemma Prescott Squamish Yoga Instructor

Gemma is originally from Scotland. In 2006 she traveled to Whistler to experience mountain life. After spending time in Whistler and Vancouver she moved to Squamish in 2011. She is here to stay in the Sea to Sky. Gemma loves the community and all the area has to offer. She is passionate about caring for her body through movement and eating well.
Gemma’s yoga journey began in 2002 when a friend introduced her to Ashtanga Yoga, which left her feeling she might never step off the mat again. Yoga has become a personal sanctuary. It has shaped who she is and how she navigates life.
Gemma has explored many yoga styles at different studios since. She practiced with Kristin Campbell in Whistler and respected her teaching style. When Kristin offered teacher training in Squamish, Gemma had to sign up.
In 2017 she completed the 200 Hr YTT in Tapasya Yoga. This is an alignment-based Hot-Hatha and Hatha-Vinyasa Yoga methodology created by Kristin. As well, Gemma furthered her skill with Natalie Rousseau in a Vinyasa-based advanced teacher training. Next, she completed Yin Yoga teacher training with Jodi Dodd. This complemented the previous trainings. In addition to each of these teachers, Gemma feels deep gratitude to all her teachers along the way who have shaped her as a student and a teacher.

Drawing on her extensive and varied training; Gemma will guide you with clear cues and a grounded tone. She offers warmth with a relaxed and informal approach that will help you find space to feel and simply be. In Hatha and Vinyasa, you will experience a strong, alignment-based practice. With Yin, you will feel supported to be in stillness and experience deep opening.
Gemma believes yoga is a time for us to move together yet find stillness in the mind. Through this stillness, we get to feel what we need to feel and process thoughts and emotions. Her goal is that you will feel an energy shift and leave with a calm mind.
When not on the mat Gemma can be found with her husband and two gorgeous kids, playing outside, spending time with friends or planning her next trip.
