Most of us are familiar with at least one of the 8 limbs of yoga, the third limb: asana, the physical postures we make with our bodies. Some of us are also familiar with the fourth limb: pranayama (breath work), but how many of us are familiar with the fifth limb? Pratyahara… I know it’s hard to say. Pratyahara is the withdrawal of the sense, or put another way, no longer be controlled by our senses. The ability to quiet the mind and focus and not be pulled around by what we see, taste, touch, feel and hear.
Come spend an afternoon with Tanya Skok Hobbs learning about pratyahara and engaging in a sense withdrawal asana practice, Intrigued, since up to find out more, lots of surprises planned. Good sense of humour encouraged.
